In Business: Expose Yourself PR
Heather Logrippo got into the business after hanging out at a party with a famous rock star.

In 2000, Heather Logrippo landed a job working for a small internet startup. By the time she was done there, that business grew to be a 500 million dollar company. She took her experiences out on her own and purchased, in 2007, Distinctive Homes Magazine, bringing it into the digital age.
Driven by a desire to help others, she says, she’s known as a marketing and public relations expert who has helped many organizations through her Shrewsbury company, Expose Yourself Public Relations.
Company opening: November 2009

What made you decide to open this type of business? In 2009, I hosted a fundraiser at home, and one of the guests, who happens to be a famous rock musician, asked me to help him market himself as a motivational speaker. After suggesting that getting a publicist might be a smart strategic move, this musician asked me to be his publicist. “I’m not a publicist,” I said. Not interested in taking “no” for an answer, he offered to be my first client and the rest, as they say, is history. The name was created as a lark, something fun to do. But as the story goes, I liked it, and other companies started to take notice. Soon Expose Yourself PR started working with clients such as CRICO Strategies, a division of Risk Management Foundation of the Harvard Medical Institutions, and the Mayo Group, a large real estate holding company and smaller local businesses such as Village Dental in Shrewsbury, MA. Before you know it, this fun dalliance turned into something great, something exciting and, today, with five employees and a robust client list, that whole lot of fun is guided by a whole lot of passion.
What do you like best about it? I love helping businesses figure out their special value proposition and then figuring out how to speak to their target audience on a meaningful basis. What this means in plain English is that I love helping businesses grow!

Biggest struggle? Finding employees that share my passion. Luckily, I have a team now that is superlative in every way. It makes me happy to surround myself with people who are better than I am in many ways. It makes the company strong and has allowed us to grow.
What do you see for the future? I see bigger office space. We are outgrowing our current space, but we love where we are. We are close to being a million dollar company that started with $0 in revenue, so I’m proud and excited to continue that growth.
Politics and small business: how does government affect your business?
I find it very constraining to do business in the Bay State. However, I’m optimistic that Charlie Baker will make the Commonwealth a better place for small businesses. Additionally, locally we have the best state representation around. Hannah Kane is one of the most articulate, bright and strategic states reps we could ask for. From that perspective, we are poised for vast improvement from a political standpoint.
