Fraud Alert Issued For Shrewsbury's Seniors
Police warned of a potential phone scam targeting Shrewsbury's seniors.
SHREWSBURY, MA - The town of Shrewsbury alerted its residents to a potential scam targeting seniors.
A release posted to the town's website said callers are falsely claiming to be from the "Shrewsbury Consumer Science Department," and are telling the recipients they owe back taxes and are urged to call (833) 750-2345 to resolve the problem.
The caller ID showed "Shrewsbury Consumer Science Department," and an online search had it at 64 Holden St. with a phone number connecting to town hall. There is no such individual affiliated with the department.
