In Court: Local Man Forges Checks for $27,000

Monday, May 21:

Zachary Inzer, 21, of 5134 Arbor D, Shrewsbury, was was summonsed to court by Southborough police on a complaint May 20 and charged with OUI liquor, failure to stop/yield and speeding in violation of special regulations. Judge Vito Virzi continued the case to June 21.

Zachary D. Remian, 22, of 266 East Main St., Westborough, was summonsed to court by Grafton police on a complaint Feb. 22 and charged with driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, and speeding. Judge Vito Virzi dismissed the first charges and found him responsible on the other two charges and fined him $100 on each charge.

Russell P. Thomas, 29, of 56 Elm St., Hopkinton, was summonsed to court by Northborough police on a complaint May 18 and charged with OUI liquor second offense and marked lanes violation. Judge Virzi continued the case to June 13.

Paul A. West, 36, of 5 Bainridge Rd., Worcester, was summonsed to court by Shrewsbury police on a complaint March 21, 2011 and charged with larceny over $250 in a single scheme, forgery of check and uttering false check. Judge Virzi found sufficient facts on the first charge and placed him on probation on May 19, 2015 and ordered him to pay $27,732 in restitution. The probation may be terminated early if the restitution is paid early, Judge Virzi said. In May of 2011, Shrewsbury police were contacted by the Shrewsbury Federal Credit Union after an employee realized that about $20,000 worth of checks were altered, forged and stolen by one of their bank customers, according to the police report. The report also said West added a 1 before the checks that were issued to him by a company where he worked adding $1,000 to each of the 20 checks, making the total $20,000. The investigation also revealed four additional checks stolen and forged totaling $7,732, according to the police report.
