North Carolina Man Charged In Shrewsbury Bank Thefts

The 43-year-old committed similar crimes in Milford, Worcester, Grafton and other parts of Massachusetts, police said.

SHREWSBURY, MA — A North Carolina man has been arrested and charged in a series of thefts in Shrewsbury and other local communities, according to local police.

Shrewsbury police recently asked the public for help identifying a man who was suspected of using forged IDs to withdraw cash at the UniBank and Rockland Trust banks in Shrewsbury.

"The suspect possessed fake ID cards which had various victims’ names on the cards. The suspect would then enter banks and present the ID’s to bank tellers, posing as the victim of the identity fraud, and attempt to withdraw money from victim’s bank accounts," Shrewsbury police said in a news release.

Robert Keahon, 43, of Waxhaw, North Carolina, was arrested in July in a nearby community while attempting a similar crime. Shrewsbury police also sought charges, including four counts of forgery, larceny over $1,200, two counts of fraud, four counts of using a false check and two counts of attempting to commit larceny.

Keahon is also a suspect in similar fraud crimes that happened at banks in Milford, Worcester, Grafton, Quincy and Braintree, police said.
