Schools Ask for 8.8 Percent Budget Increase
The budget presentation was held last night at the School Committee meeting.
Shrewsbury Public Schools Superintendent Joseph Sawyer hopes to hire 31 new teachers across the district, and that's just the start of the $4.4 million budget increase he recommended.
According to the Shrewsbury Daily Voice Sawyer presented a budget last night that includes special education personnel, iPads for Oak Middle School, and more along with the additional teachers.
"This budget would be the first step in restoring resources that have been cut over the past several years, said School Committee members," the Daily Voice reports.

A public hearing on the school department's proposed $54 million budget will be held next month.
