Shrewsbury Police Introduces New "SafeCam" Program

The new program encourages residents to register their security camera locations with the Shrewsbury Police Department.

SHREWSBURY, MA - The Shrewsbury Police Department introduced a new program called "SafeCam," described as a collaborative effort between police and community for residents to register locations of security cameras with the department.

The effort would "provide valuable information that can help officers quickly identify potential evidence if a crime occurs nearby," according to a statement issued by the Shrewsbury police on Facebook. Registration does not give the police access to cameras or live feeds. If an incident were to happen near a registered camera, the police would contact to see if any footage might help the case.

Participation in the program is voluntary, and additional information, including registration, can be found at the Shrewsbury Police Department's Facebook post linked here.
