'Suspicious' Fire at Nail Salon: Officials

Fire officials said they found a suspicious item in a Shrewsbury nail salon that caught on fire early Tuesday morning.

SHREWSBURY, MA - A fire that broke out in a nail salon Tuesday morning was deemed suspicious in nature, fire officials said.

At about 1:30 a.m., Shrewsbury firefighters responded to a water flow alarm for 20 Boston Turnpike, fire officials said.

The glass in the front door of Creative Nails and Spa was shattered and firefighters saw smoke billowing out of the building. The building’s sprinkler had been activated and water was also flowing from the blaze, officials said.

A suspicious item was found in store after the fire was extinguished, officials said. There is no further information available on the nature of the object.

Damage to the nail salon is estimated at about $50,000, according to fire officials.
