Thousands of Infested Trees to be Removed in Shrewsbury

The Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen heard from Department of Agriculture representatives who have been investigating the Asian Longhorn Beetle Tuesday night.

According to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette , thousands of trees have been impacted by the bugs.

"Clint McFarland and Julie Coop, representatives of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, said the infested host trees, mostly red maple, are on 92 acres north of St. John's High School athletic fields on Main Street and south of Route 290. Some of the property belongs to St. John's, some to the town and some is in a Worcester-owned gun range," the Telegram reports .
