SHREWSBURY, MA - Following a reported increase in home break-ins in Shrewsbury from the polcie department, they issued guidelines and safety recommendations for residents to better protect themselves.
How to reduce risk:
- Lock all doors and windows when you leave, even if you're heading out briefly.
- Keep outdoor lights on at night, and consider motion-activated lighting.
- Do not leave valuables in plain sight.
- If you're away, use timers on lights and ask a trusted neighbor to keep an eye on your home.
