Water Main Break In Shrewsbury: Shut Off Could Last 8 Hours

The water main break happened along Route 20 near the Route 9 interchange, officials said.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Residents and businesses in one section of Shrewsbury could be without water for up to eight hours Tuesday due to a water main break.

The break happened in the area of 864 Hartford Turnpike, which is the part of Route 20 near Avalon Way southwest of the Route 9 interchange.

"Crews are working to isolate the impacted section of water main, and will then begin making the repairs. We expect the water to be off for 6 to 8 hours," the town said in a bulletin around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

When the water comes back on, it's possible it will be discolored, the town said. Anyone with questions can contact the Shrewsbury Department of Public Works by calling (508) 841-8502.
