Water's Bacteria Levels Force Closure Of Sunset Beach, Shrewsbury

SHREWSBURY, MA—Sunset Beach is closed to swimming until further notice, authorities announced on Thursday morning.

Recent rainstorms have elevated bacterial levels that exceed normal water quality standards, making it unsafe to go in the water. Testing will continue and information will be updated by the town when it becomes available.

Located on the southern end of Lake Quinsigamond in Shrewsbury, Sunset Beach has been family owned since the 1940s. The beach offers boat rentals, picnic tables and a snack store.
