3 Somerville Task Forces Will Present Their Findings

The Public Safety for All Task Force, Civilian Oversight Task Force, and Anti-Violence Working Group are working to improve the city.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The Public Safety for All Task Force, Civilian Oversight Task Force, and Anti-Violence Working Group will be presenting completed reports to the community on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

The event is being organized by the city’s Department of Racial and Social Justice, and will take place at Somerville High School beginning at 6:30 p.m. After each group presents their findings and results, attendees will be given the opportunity to ask questions. The reports will be shared online a week before the event on Tuesday, Jan. 28 on the Public Safety For All page of the city’s website.

The three groups began their research in spring 2023. According to the city, the Public Safety For All Task Force focused on city-wide public safety infrastructure, the Civilian Oversight Task Force focused on drafting the structure of a larger civilian oversight “entity” that works for the city, and the Anti-Violence Working Group focused on strategies to minimize gun, gang, traffic, and domestic violence in Somerville.
