President Barack Obama appointed Solomont to the embassy in Madrid for a posting that began in 2010, and before that he served as chair of the Corporation for National and Community Service, which oversees things like AmericCorps, a university announcement says. It says he also has a background in health care, elder care and community organizing. Solomont is also a graduate of Tufts University, and he is a trustee emeritus and founding board chair of Tisch College.
