Bulger Trial: Victims' Family Tell Stories, the 'Informant' Issue

An update in the trial of James "Whitey" Bulger.

Some family members of James "Whitey" Bulger's alleged murder victims took the witness stand Tuesday morning in the ongoing trial of the infamous Boston mobster.

According to Twitter updates from reporters covering the trial, those witnesses included Sandra Castucci, widow of Richard Castucci, who was shot in the head in 1976, put in a sleeping bag and left in the trunk of a car in Revere.

Another witness was Margaret King, widow of murdered gangster Tommy King, who went missing in 1975 and whose body was discovered buried under the Neponset River Bridge in 2000.

The body of Buddy Leonard, also murdered, was found in King's car, and Leonard's brother also testified Tuesday.

The family members' testimony broke up a longer session with Special Agent James Marra of the Office of the Inspector General, who was in court for his third day of testimony, according to WBUR.

According to Boston.com, Marra spent three hours Monday reading from Bulger's 700-page FBI informant file.

The file contains information about stories Bulger allegedly told the FBI about crime happenings in Boston during the 1970s and 1980s, including stories Bulger allegedly told to cover his own tracks in several murders.

Bulger's defense maintains the mobster wasn't an informant for the FBI, according to WBUR.

Also in the trial this week, Bulger's defense team filed a motion asking Judge Denise Casper to lift a gag order preventing them from speaking to the press, according to Boston.com.
