Featuring Abbie Barrett, Chris Cote (Upper Crust), Good Trouble Brass Band, Linnea Herzog (Linnea's Garden), Linda Twiss-Gioscia, Paul Willis Which Side?: A Protest Music Teach-Out is a concert and discussion series celebrating and exploring protest music. The events will use James Sullivan’s book, <a href="https://bookshop.org/p/books/which-side-are-you-on-20th-century-american-history-in-100-protest-songs-journalist-james-sullivan/3c07d1ecd5552c14?ean=9780190660307&amp;next=t&amp;next=t" target="_blank" aria-label="Opens in a new tab." rel="nofollow">Which Side Are You On?</a>: 20th Century American History in 100 Protest Songs, as a starting point for the presentation of songs that ask listeners to consider how music gives voice to resistance, advocacy, and change. While the series will anchor itself to the book, collaborators will also contribute 21st-century music, both originals and covers. The show is scheduled to begin promptly at 8pm Admission is pay-what-you-want, with all proceeds going to the musicians and other direct expenses. Tickets can be reserved, but a reservation does not guarantee entry unless you are in the room by 7:30pm If there are people waiting for entry, reservations will be released starting at that time. If there are any profits after workers are paid, they will be donated to an appropriate non-profit fighting for intellectual freedom in our nation’s courts. This series is produced by Joyce Linehan, Jon Lupfer, and James Sullivan, with the help of many generous friends. Featuring Abbie Barrett, Chris Cote (Upper Crust), Good Trouble Brass Band, Linnea Herzog (Linnea's Garden), Linda Twiss-Gioscia (Roxy and the Crisis), and Paul Willis, each backed by the house band The Paid Protesters — Ed Valauskas (music director). The 90-minute show will also feature commentary by Sullivan, and a short discussion at the end.

Named after an ancient Celtic harvest festival in honour of the Irish god Lugh, the group that Folk Roots magazine once called an “Irish music dream team” was formed from members of some of Ireland’s greatest bands and over the years has proven its mettle time and again, having sold over a quarter of a million records, performed more than 2,000 shows in high-profile concert venues across 36 countries, and collaborated with many notable artists outside the tradition.
