Deadline Looms for Somerville Voter Registration

Voters in Somerville have until Wednesday, Oct. 14, to register to vote, change a name or change an address for the Municipal Election to be held on November 3, 2015.

In order to register to vote in Somerville you must meet all of the following requirements:

• A United States Citizen
• A resident of Massachusetts
• 18-years-old on or before the next election

Please note: Online applications require a valid ID issued by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV), as well as a signature on file with the RMV.

Mail-In Voter Registration: CALL: 617-625-6600 X4200 to have a form be mailed to you, or go to the Forms Library to download a registration form.

Mon.-Wed.: 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
Thursday: 8:30 A.M.. to 7:30 P.M.
Friday: 8:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. An acknowledgement notice will be sent confirming that you are registered.

Absentee Voting

To vote absentee, you must be unable to vote on Election Day due to (1) absence from City during the hours the Polls are open; (2) physical disability preventing you from going to the polling place; or (3) religious belief.

Absentee ballot applications are available upon request from the Election Commission office, or they can be downloaded from the Forms LIbrary. Written communiqué with original signature and relevant information requesting absentee ballot may also serve as an application. Penalty for Illegal Registration: Fine of not more than $10,000 or imprisonment for not more than five years, or both.
