Huge Tree Collapses on Children Playing in Park

WARNING: The graphic surveillance video from Chelsea is like something out of a horror movie.

A significantly-sized tree collapsed on several children playing at a Chelsea park on Monday.

Two boys - one 2-year-old and one 8-year-old - suffered serious injuries, according to Chelsea Police.

Surveillance footage from the Washington Park incident, which can be seen here, captures the utterly surreal and very scary scene from around 7 p.m. The tree falls swiftly and seemingly without warning, as nearby parents scramble to aid rightly terrified youngsters. Witnesses reported hearing a crackling sound shortly before the tree fell, police said.

The two boys - one of whom may have a fractured skull - were transported to Whidden Hospital in Everett. The park has been closed until officials know for sure no other trees are at risk of immediate collapse.
