Interstate 93 Road Closure Tuesday Night

Interstate 93 northbound will be closed through Boston from 11 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday, according to the according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

The transportation department says the highway will be closed from Exit 16, Southampton Street, and cars will re-enter the highway at the Haymarket on-ramp. Drivers will be directed onto surface roads through Boston.

The closure will allow crews to perform tunnel wall and sign washing, drain clearing and maintenance, and maintenance of electrical and communications systems, according to MassDOT.

This will affect drivers coming into Somerville from south of the city.
