Marathon Profile: Carly Papish Runs with Tedy's Team
She's running to support stroke awareness.

The following is an announcement from the Amercan Stroke Association about Carly Papish, who is running the Boston Marathon in 2013:
Carly Papish of Somerville, will be amongst thousands this April to run the 117th Boston Marathon. While her eye will be set on the finish line for the grueling 26.2 miles, the real finish line for Papish, who is running as part of Tedy’s Team, led by former New England Patriots linebacker and stroke survivor, Tedy Bruschi, will be an end to stroke. Papish is running in honor of her younger sister, Molly, who suffered a stroke at 21-years old.
Last March, Molly suffered a stroke while she was away at college. Since her stroke a little over a year ago, Molly has made a full recovery and is now doing great. Since Molly’s stroke, Papish and her family have been trying to get involved in raising awareness about stroke and the importance of knowing the warning signs.

“When I found out about Tedy’s Team, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to continue to raise awareness and show my support to Molly,” explained Papish. “I’m so proud of the recovery that she has made and I wanted to do something to acknowledge that.”
After suffering a stroke in 2005 at the age of 31, Tedy’ Bruschi committed himself to being an advocate, spokesperson, and inspiration for stroke survivors in our area and teamed up with the American Stroke Association to create, “Tedy’s Team”. Since its inception, Tedy’s Team has raised more than $2.5 million for stroke research and education. Tedy’ and his wife, Heidi, have cheered on and supported the team for the last six years.

On Monday, April 15, the members of Tedy’s Team will be motivated by their stroke heroes when they hit the pavement for the 117th Annual Boston Marathon. They will celebrate the passion and inspiration of Tedy’s Team, honoring both the survivors and the loved ones lost to the region’s No. 4 leading cause of death. The runners are taking a critical step toward raising awareness of stroke and its warning signs, as well as much needed funds for local research and educational programs.
