Markey or Lynch? Somerville Democrats Hold Senate Straw Poll Monday

The city's Democratic committee will also elect a new chair.

Somerville Democrats are holding a general meeting Monday to conduct a straw poll in the special election for Senate, which pits Rep. Ed Markey against Rep. Stephen Lynch in the Democratic primary (three candidates are running on the Republican side).

The outcome will determine which Democratic candidate the committee will officially support. Members of Somerville's Democratic ward committees—there are seven wards and up to 35 members in each committee—are eligible to vote.

According to an announcement from the Somerville Democrats, the citywide committee will also elect a new chair after Kate Chang, the former chair, stepped down in February.
