Middlesex DA Investigating 3 Shootings That May Be Connected
The incidents took place with in 12 hours of each other in three different municipalities.
SOMERVILLE, MA — Middlesex County District Attorney Ma rian Ryan announced that her office is investigating three shootings in Somerville, Cambridge, and Belmont that took place within a total of 12 hours.
The Cambridge one occurred first shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24. Officers responded to the area of Bishop Allen Drive and Columbia Street after hearing what sounded like multiple gunshots. According to Ryan, three juveniles have since been charged with possession of a large capacity magazine and ammunition and assault and battery on a police officer, defacing property for throwing an object at an officer and being an accessory after the fact damaging items in the interview room respectively.
Seven hours after the Cambridge shooting, a man was struck in the leg outside his Clark Lane apartment during a drive-by shooting.

Just after midnight a few hours later, Somerville Police recovered 47 bullet shell casings in the vicinity of the Clarendon Towers on Broadway. According to police, multiple people exited a vehicle and began shooting at one man.
“The fact that over 50 shots were fired in very densely populated areas, some in the middle of the afternoon, is the type of brazen, dangerous conduct for which those responsible must be held accountable,” Ryan said.
