Patriots' Day in Somerville

What's open, what's closed, and where you can see Paul Revere.

Monday, April 15, is Patriots' Day.

First, it means some offices will be closed, but because Patriot's Day is a state holiday and not a federal holiday, those closures are limited.

The day includes Colonial-era games, songs, refreshments and youth readings. Volunteers will be dressed in period costumes, and guests are encouraged to do the same.

The Somerville High School band will perform, and children will receive a "Colonial Times Passport." If they fill their passport by visiting six stations, they'll receive a small prize.

The highlight of the ceremony occurs when a Paul Revere re-enactor rides through Somerville, stopping to make some short statements. The ride approximates the actual route taken by Paul Revere in 1775, and after visiting Somerville the re-enactor will continue onto Lexington.
