Protestors Gather In Support Of Tufts Student Detained By ICE: Report
Tufts President Sunil Kumar was reportedly told that Ozturk's visa status had expired.
SOMERVILLE, MA — Hundreds of people have gathered near Tufts University to protest the detainment of a PhD graduate student by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency on Tuesday, according to a report from 7 News Boston.
Rumesya Ozturk was confronted near her off-campus apartment while on her way to meet friends. Surveillance footage captures a group of masked individuals approaching and handcuffing her before walking her toward a black unmarked vehicle.
When the protestors learned that Ozturk had been brought to Louisiana Wednesday, they reportedly booed in response.
