Somerville Is One of Nation's Smartest Cities

A recent study puts Somerville in the top 15. See which cities were smarter.

Somerville is one of the smartest cities in the country, according to a recent study conducted by Lumosity, a website that runs brain training exercises.

According to Yahoo Finance, Lumosity ranked cities based on the average brain performance of their residents. The website runs cognitive exercises that work on brain speed, attention, flexibility, memory and problem solving.

Based on Lumosity's data, Somerville was the 13th smartest city in America in 2013. It was smarter than Chapel Hill, N.C., Ann Arbor, Mich., Madison, Wis., and a bunch of other communities in Massachusetts.

Cambridge and Amherst were deemed smarter. Stanford, Calif., was the smartest city in the country.
