Somerville Mayor Launches Reelection Campaign

Mayor Ballantyne is seeking a third term in office.

SOMERVILLE, MA — Mayor Katjana Ballantyne officially launched her bid for reelection Monday night with a campaign event.

Ballantyne was joined by colleagues like Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, State Rep. Christine Barber, and Boston Building Trade Unions General Agent General Agent Brian Doherty who all expressed their endorsement of her reelection.

“You couldn’t have a stronger leader than Mayor Ballantyne,” Driscoll said. “There’s no place I’d rather be than in Somerville with a Mayor who’s fighting for us everyday.”

The event was held at Tony C’s Sports Bar and Grill at Assembly Row.

Ballantyne was first elected Mayor of Somerville in 2021. She cited multiple initiatives that have taken place in the city during her tenure including distributing $9.5 million in rental assistance to approximately 400 households, receiving a AAA bond rating, and achieving pay equity for city employees.

Ballantyne is slated to be running against City Councilors-At-Large Jake Wilson and Willie Burnley Jr. as well as resident Jason Mackey in the 2025 city election.
