Somerville Teacher to Attend C-SPAN Conference
She will join educators from around the country to discuss ways to make social studies come alive for students.

Jennifer Sears, a social studies teacher at the Kennedy School, will attend C-SPAN Classroom's 2013 Educator's Conference in July, according to an email from C-SPAN.
The conference, held July 8 and 9 in Washington D.C., includes 26 educators, middle-school teachers who specialize in social studies or technology, from across the country.
Their mission is to discuss ways to make social studies come alive in the classroom.
In particular, they will learn how to use C-SPAN as a way "to engage their students in a better understanding of how government works, as well as how to become informed citizens," according to a statement from C-SPAN Vice President of Education Joanne Wheeler.
Sears competed with teachers from around the country for a spot at the convention, the announcement says.
