This Weekend in Somerville: Cleaning the Mystic for Earth Day

Some things happening in and around Somerville this weekend.

Mystic River Cleanup
The Mystic River Watershed Association is planning an Earth Day Mystic River cleanup in Assembly Square on Saturday. Volunteers can show up from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and come and go as they like. It's easy to stop by, help out for an hour, then head out. There are other Mystic River Earth Day events scheduled for the upcoming week, too.

Combat Robots
See the final battle as robots fight head-to-head at The Center for Arts at the Armory, Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

"Pericles" by William Shakespeare
The Somerville-based Actors Shakespeare Project presents the play, in which "the swirling tribulations of Pericles, whose journey involves a series of surprises and challenges that would test even the most resilient of men as he is flung from cruelly personal adversity to the ravages of storms." The performance is at The Modern Theatre at Suffolk University 525 Washington St, Boston. Check the Actors Shakespeare Project website for times and tickets.

You don't need to be Italian or Jewish to enjoy this show, according to the listing, "All you need is to know what it feels like to leave a family dinner with heartburn and a headache!" The listing says the show is "written by award-winning author Steve Solomon, the hilarious one-man comedy is based on his life growing up in a wacky family noted for its bi-ethnic diversity and aptitude for dysfunctional behavior, and all the people in his life whose sole purpose was to drive him into therapy!" It's at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at The Regent in Arlington, 7 Medford St.

Sunday dinner with some music in Davis Square. Head to Johnny D's Uptown Restaurant & Music Club at 4:30 p.m
