VIDEO: Somerville Teens Preview Upcoming 'Peace Month' Performance
A performance at Somerville Theatre on April 6 kicks off a month of events and activities designed to promote productive, healthy life choices among Somerville's teens.
Teen Empowerment, a youth services organization in East Somerville, has been in the city for eight years, and on April 6 it kicks off "peace month" in with a performance at Somerville Theatre.
The performance is the creation of about 30 teens who work with Teen Empowerment.
It's "all original material," said Jaime Lederer, program director at the organization.

Every year Teen Empowerment hosts a peace conference in Somerville, inviting young people to participate in discussions and exercises about issues affecting their lives—violence, drugs, school, family difficulties, bullying, and other matters.
This year's "late nite" show at Somerville Theatre is a bit of a departure from those previous peace conferences. The teens will perform three vignettes dealing with drug use, bullying and mental health, and media influences.
