Man Charged For Having Marijuana, Knife on Shawmut Ave

Police arrested a South End man for possession of drugs and a weapon.

The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Charges listed do not indicate a conviction.

Boston Police arrested a South End man for possession of drugs and a weapon on Shawmut Avenue earlier this week. 

Officers were called to the intersection of Lenox Street and Shawmut Avenue, where there were reports of people throwing snowballs at cars. Officers spoke to a group of six to nine people, all of whom a witness claimed were throwing snowballs at cars.

Police said they noticed one of the men "moving his hands inside his sweatshirt," and ended up seaching him. A struggle ensued and the officer called for backup. Many neighbors exited their homes and demanded an explanation of what was going on, police said. Backup arrived and the officers were able to subdue the suspect and put him in handcuffs.

Officers continued to search the suspect and found a folding knife and two bags of marijuana.

Officers charged Carlos Lemon of 130 Dartmouth Street with assault and battery on a police officer, possession of a Class D substance, disturbing the peace and unlawfully carrying a dangerous weapon.
