Boston Police District D-4 South End: Suspect In Custody Following Multi-Agency Response To Bank Robbery In The Back Bay

At about 12:16 PM on Monday January 31, 2022, Andrade Jamall, 38, of Hyde Park, was placed in custody after officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) responded to a call for a robbery in progress at the Santander Bank located 800 Boylston Street in the Back Bay.

On approach, officers were advised that the suspect had passed a note to a teller before fleeing the area with an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency. Officers immediately provided a description of the suspect while continuing their investigation in coordination with responding members of the FBI Violent Crime Task Force.

A short time later, members of the MBTA Transit Police stopped a suspect matching the given description at the Back Bay MBTA Station where he was placed in custody after being positively identified. Officers were then able to recover cash and other evidence related to the investigation from both the suspect and the surrounding area. Additionally, officers recovered one small plastic bag of heroin from the suspect.

The suspect will appear in Boston Municipal Court on charges of Unarmed Robbery (Bank) and Possession of Class A Drugs.
