Five Things: Pine Street Inn Receives Grant from Project Bread
Over $900,000 in grants were awarded to Boston-area emergency food programs.

2. Project Bread has awarded over $900,000 in grants to food programs in the Boston area including . The funds were raised through Project Bread’s annual Walk for Hunger, the oldest continual pledge walk in the nation.

“Every day, more than 650 individuals rely on Pine Street Inn for emergency shelter and food, and providing them nutritious meals is a cornerstone of our mission,” said Pine Street Inn President Lyndia Downie. “We are grateful to have a deep and longstanding relationship with Project Bread, whose support is critical to alleviating hunger among homeless men and women in Massachusetts.”

4. senior Geeavontie Griffith was named ESPN Boston's Player of the Week. Griffith, who plays on the school's football team, carried the ball just 10 times for 377 yards and 5 touchdowns in a 44-20 win over Matignon last weekend. Read his interview with ESPN here.
5. The Boston Children's Chorus, located in the South End, is putting on a Fall Concert in honor of Veterans Day this Friday. The concert begins at 7 p.m. at St. Cecilia’s Parish, 18 Belvidere Street (near Berklee College of Music) and tickets are just $10 for individuals/$20 for a family of four.
