Officers said they saw a person waiting for someone near Lenox Street and Trotter Court. The person went in the parking lot between Lattimore Court and Trotter Court, where they met a person who took them inside a nearby apartment. Less than minute later, the two parties exited the apartment. Officers believed that the suspect went into the apartment to buy drugs, according to the police report.

Officers followed the suspects to 34 Trotter Court, and entered the hallway to speak with them. One of the men told police that his cousin lived in this building. An apartment door opened and officers asked if they were related to the suspect. The occupant told police that they were not related, turned to the suspect and said, “I don’t know you,” and closed the door.

Officers noted a sign that read, “No Trespassing,” and placed the suspects under arrest for trespassing. Officers saw what appeared to be plastic bags in of the suspects’ mouths. An officer pulled one of one bag out of the one suspect’s mouth, while the other suspect spat out their bag. Both bags contained brown powder police ID'd as heroin.

Officers searched the suspects’ backpacks and found a can opener and a screwdriver, according to the police report. Officers noted that these are tools commonly used to take security tags off of retail items. They also found Gap jeans with the price tags still on them and shirts varying in sizes. When asked where the clothes came from, one of the men said that he brought them from home. When officers asked where he lived, the suspect said he was homeless.

Officers charged Nelson Riopedre of 784 Massachusetts Avenue and Jose Reyes of 105 Chauncy Street with trespassing, possession of Class A substance and receiving stolen property.
