Things To Know in the South End Today, Nov. 2: Cloud Point at Boston Center for the Arts

Here are five things going on in the South End and nearby today.

1. Weather: The National Weather Service is predicting a mostly cloudy day with a high in the mid 50s. The evening will cool off to the lower 40s.

2. Performance : Liz Roncka, Nicole Colella, Amir Milstein and Haggai Cohen Milo explore the qualities of wax and create an evolving sound and movement landscape set against The Future of the Past: Encaustic Art in the 21st Century exhibition. Happening tonight at 7 p.m. at the Boston Center for the Arts. Admission is free. See here for more information. 

3. Events at Formaggio: Two great events are happening today at Formaggio Kitchen South End (268 Shawmut Ave.) Martin from Oz Wine Co. will be sampling out three delicious wines for fall including an Italian white from the Amalfi coast, a Grignolino from Piemonte and a delicious Cabernet from France's Loire Valley today from 5-7 p.m. And at 4 p.m., Patty from On the Edge Knife Sharpening will be in the store to sharpen knives to get them ready for Thanksgiving. 4. For the Kids: Today and every Friday this fall, your kids can enjoy a free morning at Pine Village Preschool (700 Harrison Ave.) Children will participate in theme-based curriculum activities designed and led by school staff. All children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. See here for more information. 

5. Harvard Jazz Heroes: Come down to the Lowell Lecture Hall at 17 Kirkland St. in Cambridge to see the unsung heroes of the Boston jazz scene. Event runs from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Price of admission is $10.
