Victim in Fatal Bicycle Crash Identified by Police
Guo Zhen, 74, of Boston was killed while bicycling in the South End last month.
Police have identified the bicyclist struck and killed at a South End intersection last month as Guo Zhen, 74, of Boston.
According to police, Zhen was riding his bicycle near the intersection of Arlington and Tremont streets on the morning of Jan. 24 when he was struck by a motor vehicle, causing life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
In a press release issued this afternoon, police confirmed that the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

“No one has been charged at this time,” the report states.
On the morning of the accident, one of the coldest days of the year, a turquoise bicycle presumed to be Zhen’s was leaned up against a snow bank outside Doggie Day. Nearby, police examined a white Honda with a Massachusetts license plate. The vehicle sustained major damage to the drivers’ side windshield but was otherwise unharmed.

Police said the accident occurred around 8:10 a.m., during the morning commute. Zhen was just a few blocks from his home on Village Court at the time.
