Day and Legislature Are On Wrong Side Of Abortion Debate

In Letter to the Editor, resident says abortion and infanticide are beyond being mere religious issues; they are human issues.

(Bob Holmes)

A Letter to the Editor from John Natale:

The pro-choice side of the abortion debate claims that the “blob” inside the womb is just an “it”
with no cognitive, sentient abilities. The pro-life side knows that the “ it” is a developing human
being that will have cognitive and sentient functioning when it emerges from its mother in 9
months. Would anyone approve the killing of an advance state Alzheimer’s patient who also has
no cognitive and sentient functioning if we knew that he/she would recover full brain and feeling
functions in 9 months? How is killing a baby any different?

NY recently passed an abortion law with NO time limits. This means that abortion during
dilation is OK; post–birth abortion is also OK. At least six Democrat candidates for president -
Senators Booker, Gillibrand, Klobuchar, Harris, Sanders, Warren - support the NY law. Last
week these same six Democrat presidential candidates also defeated the Senate Born Alive bill
which would have guaranteed that the same medical care given to all new babies, be given to a
baby that survived an abortion. Without that protection, such a baby living outside her mother
would wait until mother and doctor decided what to do. How long to wait? One hour? Six
months? Two years? What has the barbaric act of killing a human being, alive outside its mother,
to do with the “health of the mother”?

More extreme than the NY and VA laws, is the Roe Act already in committee in the MA
Legislature. Since House Democrats out-number Republicans by more than 5 to 1, passage into
law is a slam-dunk. Abortion and infanticide are beyond being mere religious issues; they are
human issues. Still, it is disturbing that one of its principal sponsors is local Democrat State
Representative (Winchester and Stoneham) Michael Day who claims he is a Catholic. Claiming
to be a Catholic for moral cover and actually being a Catholic are two very different things. Mr.
Day, and all other CINOs (Catholics-in-Name-Only), are gravely mistaken. (see CCC 2270. )

These new abortion laws are ghoulish. Ordinary Democrat pro-choice voters (I have five in my
family) will not vote for infanticide. That small but unanimous sample presages a punishing
rejection of extreme Democrat party policies in 2020.

Yes, I strongly believe that a woman has the right to her own body, … even if she is still inside
the womb.
