A woman was seriously injured when her car went off the road and into Dark Hollow Pond.

STONEHAM, MA — A woman was seriously injured Tuesday when her car went off the road and into a pond in Stoneham. A 2017 Mercedes convertible involved in a multi-car crash on I-93 South went through a guardrail, down an embankment and ended up partially submerged in Dark Hollow Pond around 2:45 p.m., the Stoneham Fire Department said.
State Police said a black SUV set the crash in motion and then fled the scene, disregarding signals to pull over from other drivers.
Emergency crews found the driver, a 59-year-old Charlestown woman, trapped inside the car. She was extricated from the car and hospitalized with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
