Massive House Fire Extinguished In Stoneham

Multiple 911 callers reported heavy fire at a 2-1/2 story home on Park Street around 4 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.

STONEHAM, MA — Crews extinguished a large fire at a home on Park Street in Stoneham Tuesday afternoon, the Stoneham Fire Department said in a news release.

Multiple 911 callers reported heavy fire at the 2-1/2 story home around 4 p.m., when fire crews arrived and began to knock down the flames outside of the house before moving inside, officials said.

Two residents of the home were able to escape on their own, according to officials.

A firefighter suffered burn injuries while battling the blaze, but was treated at the scene and did not require transport to a hospital, officials said. No other injuries were reported.

The home suffered heavy fire damage on all floors, and two residents were displaced.

The Salvation Army responded to the scene to begin assisting the residents and the cause of the fire is under investigation, according to officials.

“I’m grateful that the residents were able to get out safely,” Stoneham Fire Chief Grafton said in the news release. “Companies made a very aggressive attack and did a tremendous job knocking down the bulk of the fire before getting inside the home and getting ahead of the fire."
