STONEHAM, MA — Stoneham voters favored their incumbent state legislators in 2022 state election voting this week, preliminary results showed.

Indeed, both Sen. Jason Lewis and Rep. Michael Day led in their bids to return to the legislature for another term as of early Wednesday morning as wins in Stoneham factored in alongside strong performances elsewhere in their districts, according to the Associated Press.

Lewis declared victory at an election party in Malden shortly after 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Day later took to social media to separately declare victory.

“I appreciate your votes and will honor them by working tirelessly to move our district and our Commonwealth forward,” Day said of his supporters.

Day’s district also includes Winchester. He has served in the state legislature since 2015.

Lewis, who faced Wakefield Town Councilor Ed Dombroski in this year’s Massachusetts 5th Middlesex District State Senate Race, has served in the senate since 2014 after serving as a state representative before that.
