Stoneham Church Cancels Easter Masses Amid COVID Uptick
Father Mario Orrigo of St. Patrick Parish said a number of parish staff and clergy tested positive for the coronavirus.
STONEHAM, MA — A Stoneham church is canceling all masses through April 10 after a number of parish staff and clergy tested positive for COVID-19. That includes the celebration of the Holy Triduum and Easter Masses.
In a letter to parishioners, Father Mario Orrigo of St. Patrick Parish said he was advised by the Department of Public Health, Diocese and regional bishop to suspend all services, "otherwise we put more people at risk."
"My heart is broken by this news. Yet, as we consider how this sacrifice disrupts the plans all of us have made; I am struck by how it can help so many," Orrigo wrote.
