Stoneham Veterans Day 2022: Ceremony, Road Race, Field Of Honor

The schedule of Veterans Day programming will get underway on Friday morning at Stoneham Town Hall.

STONEHAM, MA — Stoneham will mark Veterans Day on Friday with events near the end of a busy week of larger Veterans Week programming.

A slate of Friday ceremonies will take place before the return of Stoneham’s Veterans 5k/Walk for its 7th running, as noted by event organizers.

Ceremonies will start at Stoneham Town Hall at 10:30 a.m. There will be thank you pins and cards for veterans, as well as pizza and drinks following the ceremony.

Community members will then move outside for a second ceremony at Stoneham’s William F. Buckley monument at the intersection of Main Street and Central Street, according to the day's schedule.

Stoneham’s Veterans 5k will get underway around 11:30 a.m. after the end of ceremonies. The race will begin and end at Stoneham Town Hall, with a post-race reception scheduled to follow beginning at 12 p.m.

Busy with ceremonies and the 5k on Friday, Stoneham will still have one more day of Veterans Week activities this week stretching into this weekend.

The Field of Honor display, which has flown more than 400 individual flags on the Central Middle School grounds this month, will host a closing ceremony on Saturday at 12 p.m.
