Stoneham Woman Mourned After Fatal Wakefield Crash
Cathy Ann Grafton, the mother of Stoneham Fire Chief Matthew Grafton, was remembered as a woman of perseverance and kindness.
STONEHAM, MA — A local woman is being mourned after being fatally struck by a truck last week in Wakefield.
Cathy Ann Grafton died last Thursday night at the hospital from injuries sustained in the crash earlier that evening on Main Street. Grafton's daughter, Alanna Victoria, confirmed her mother was the victim.
Grafton's son is Stoneham Fire Chief Matthew Grafton. She is also survived by her husband George and six grandchildren.

Grafton overcame growing up with polio to become a 1970 graduate of Stoneham High and eventually get a Master's degree in business from Boston University.
She enjoyed people and dogs, including her dog Ziggy.

"Every day when she woke up she always smiled," an obituary read. "Sometimes known as Chatty Cathy, she enjoyed talking to people and was always extremely sociable and friendly to everyone."
There will be a private funeral service this Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Grafton's memory to Boston Children’s Hospital Trust. Services will be private for family and relatives on Saturday January 29, 2022 from 1:00-5:00 at Anderson Bryant Funeral Home.
