1. Tennis Courts Update

At the June 26 School Committee meeting, Joel Harding, the Supervisor of Support Services for the Stoughton Public Schools, said the project to resurface the tennis courts at Stoughton High is "moving forward slowly but surely."

He said work is currently being done. The surface of the old courts has been removed and a leveling base and coat of asphalt has been applied. A second coat of asphalt still needs to be applied, Harding said. Right now, there is a smooth blacktop surface with no nets.

The Stoughton DPW has been helping with this project.

Harding said the recent rainy weather has backed things up, but he is hoping the courts will be ready by August 1, weather pending.

The 2011 Town Meeting ($100,000) to repair Stoughton High’s .

The Stoughton High boys' and girls' tennis teams have played all of their matches on the road the last two seasons and were not able to practice at home this past season due to the condition of the courts. The courts have been closed to the public since December 2011.

2. Reminder: No Trash Collection on July 4th

On Wednesday, July 4, there will be no curbside trash collection in observance of Independence Day. 

Trash collection for Independence Day will be scheduled for Thursday, July 5, in addition to the regular Thursday collection.

This is standard procedure for any holiday.

All rubbish and recyclables must be curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day.

3. Stoughton Public Library Summer Reading Activities

  • 10 a.m. - Arts in the Park with Violet the Clown (held at the ; no registration neccessary.
  • 5:30-6:30 p.m. - Zumba Dance Class (at the ; ages 11-17; pre-registration required)

4. BJ's Wholesale Club Open House

From Thursday, June 28 through Sunday, July 8 all area residents and businesses are invited to shop the Stoughton BJ’s Club without a membership for an open house.

The Stoughton BJ's is located at 901 Technology Center Dr. .

5. Senior Center Activities

  • 8 a.m. - Walking Club
  • 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. - Tai Chi
  • 10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. - Line Dancing
  • 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. - Strength Training
  • LUNCH (11:15 a.m.) - Italian Braised Beef
