1. Stoughton's July 4th Parade Route

The Parade starts at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4th at the corner of Prospect and Park Streets and ends at the DPW on Central St.

Get to the downtown area early (around 2) to play some trivia with parade emcee Mark Snyder.

2. Stoughton's July 4th Parade Weather Forecast

According to the National Weather Service, the forecast for July 4th includes possibility of rain and thunderstorms: "Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 9 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 86. South wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms."

The forecast for the evening when some communities are holding fireworks shows, including the famous Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on the Esplinade also includes a chance of rain: "A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. West wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%."

4. 4th of July Fireworks

While Stoughton had its own  - Tuesday, July 3 at 9:30 p.m. at the Stoughton High football field/track area - it's not the only chance to see a live fireworks show in the area.

5. July 4th Reading: The Declaration of Independence

Independence Day celebrates America's birthday (the U.S.A. is 236 years old this year) and commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, which is when the original 13 Colonies officially declared their independence from England.
