5 Things, July 6: Golf Clinics for Children and Veterans Tee Off

"Five Things you Need to Know Today" is a Patch column that provides readers with essential, daily information at a glance.

1. Golf Clinics for Kids and Veterans 

Bob Beach, PGA Professional, will be teaching summer golf clinics for girls and boys, ages 8-16, in a pair of two four-week sessions at on Park Street in Stoughton. The cost is $40 for the four week session. All checks are to be made out to the Jimmy Fund.

July sessions meet on Friday the 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th.  August sessions are on Friday the 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th.  All classes run from 11 a.m. until noon.

And, as a way to thank veterans for their service, there will be free golf instruction for veterans at Cedar Hill Golf Course by Bob Beach, PGA Golf Professional, on Fridays in July and August - July 6, 13, 20 and 27 and  August 3, 10, 17 and 24.

2. Stoughton All Comers – Summer Track Meets

Join Michael Baugh at the on Thursday nights this summer for fun, exercise, and competition. An experienced track coach, Baugh will instruct children in a different track and field skill each week and conduct some races. This is a no pressure learning experience that will introduce your child to the sport of track and field.

The fee is $2 per race or three races for $5.

3. Weekend Weather Forecast

The following is the National Weather Service forecast for the Stoughton area for July 6: "Patchy fog before 7 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 86. Light and variable wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon." Friday night will be "partly cloudy, with a low around 68. Southwest wind 8 to 10 mph."

Saturday, July 7: "Partly sunny, with a high near 95. West wind around 9 mph" during the day, and at night, "A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. West wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms."

Sunday, June 8: "A slight chance of showers before 7 a.m, then a slight chance of showers after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Chance of precipitation is 20%" during the day, and at night, "Partly cloudy, with a low around 62."

5. BJ's Wholesale Club Open House

From Thursday, June 28 through Sunday, July 8 all area residents and businesses are invited to shop the Stoughton BJ’s Club without a membership for an open house.

The Stoughton BJ's is located at 901 Technology Center Dr. .
