1. First Day of School for Students

Students in grades 1-12 in the Stoughton Public Schools report for their first day of the 2012-2013 school year Wednesday, September 5.

The first day for kindergarten students is Friday, September 7.

The West Elementry School (Margaret Morgan), O'Donnell Middle School (Matt Colantonio) and Stoughton High School (Julie Miller) start the 2012-2013 school year with new principals.

3. Massachusetts Primary Election 

The state primary election is on Thursday, September 6. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Speaking of the state primary election, Matt Temperley and Joseph Selvaggi, the two Republican candidates vying for the party's nomination for the new 8th Congressional District, which includes Stoughton, recently took part in separate live chats on Patch.
