Highlighting the week that was with the best of "About Town with Mark Snyder":
: After a winter and spring with little precipitation, the Town of Stoughton is preparing for the possibility of a long, hot summer, and with it, the possibility of a drought.
As a result, Selectmen on May 1 unanimously voted to approve a Drought Management Plan, initiating Phase 1, which is a “voluntary watering ban," asking residents to minimize the use of outdoor water.

: Mark Leppo, a Stoughton realtor, who fought for his life against the rare and deadly Merkel Cell Carcinoma, will be featured speaker at the Celebration of Life, a full day of celebration, education and kinship for the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) cancer community to raise awareness about the battle against cancer.
It takes place at the Harvard Medical School Quadrangle on May 20.

: A trio with ties to Stoughton - John Sawyer, Erin Kelly, and Rita Dias - are taking part in fundraisers to raise money for pancreatic cancer, brain tumors and breast cancer.

: Last weekend, Hundreds of residents turned out for the and 5 School 5K fundraisers.
More than $20,000 was generated for Stoughton's two food pantries at the 7th Annual Doin' It for Diane event, held April 27 at the Portuguese National Club.
The next day, April 28, a nice crowd turned out on a cold and crispy day for the Second Annual It's Elementary 5K Road Race and Fun Run at the Stoughton YMCA.
It is estimated the event will net $10,000 for Stoughton's five elementary schools.
