OBITUARY: Joyce Ann Kuplast

Joyce Ann Kuplast, 46, of Cranston, R.I., formerly of Easton and Stoughton, died unexpectedly Oct. 1, 2012.

She was the companion of Karen Thomas of Cranston for the past 15 years. Born in Stoughton July 27, 1966 she was the daughter of Marianne (Berry) Powers of Easton.

Joyce was raised in Easton and was a 1984 graduate of Oliver Ames High School. She attended Massasoit Community College. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard serving as an E-4 Specialist in the HHB 26th Division. 

Joyce worked as a Business Development Representative and was employed by Akzo Nobel.

She was active with Holy Cross Church basketball when she was younger and was a country music enthusiast who enjoyed Karaoke. Joyce was an active volunteer fundraiser for charitable organizations and her hobbies included painting, cooking, gardening and following the Boston Celtics.

In addition to her companion Karen Thomas and her mother Marianne Powers, Joyce is survived by her three children Stephen J. Kuplast of Cranston, R.I., Christine M. Cardi and her husband Matthew of North Kingstown, R.I. and Colleen A. Kuplast of Cranston, R.I.; her siblings Marilyn Brodeur and her husband Maurice of Middleborough, Stephen J. Shores and his wife Patricia of Stoughton, Dennis J. Shores and his partner Paul F. Sullivan of Old Orchard Beach, Maine and Jayne M. Powers of Easton; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington St., Easton, Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Holy Cross Church, Easton, at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce's memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society--Relay for Life, 5 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA. 02379.
