At Pre-July 4th Festivities, Stoughton's Eyes Were on a Grand New Flag

The Raise the Flag project secured the funds needed to purchase a 30' x 60' American Flag for the Town of Stoughton. The flag was on display July 3 at Stoughton's pre-July 4th carnival, concert and fireworks.

If you entered Tuesday night's at the Stoughton High football field and track area near the tennis courts, it was hard not to notice the large American Flag flying from a Stoughton Fire Department ladder track. In fact, the flag was hard to miss from any spot on the track or the adjacent field.

The 30' by 60' American flag waving in the light breeze was a the Stoughton Fire Department set up at last year's concert, carnival and , also held the night before July 4th. Last year's flag was borrowed, however. This year, Stoughton flew its own flag.

The American Flag was purchased thanks to the "" fundraiser spearheaded by Stoughton Patch writer Christine Iacobucci and her daughter Bella, and made possible by a number of generous donations from residents in town.

It appropriately back on June 14 at the Hansen Elementary School, as the students recited the pledge of allegiance in front of the flag.

But on Tuesday, July 3, the flag made its public debut, with people having the chance to see it up close for the first time.
