Canton Educational Center Employee Charged With Possessing, Transferring Child Porn

A Rhode Island State Police crimes unit arrested a man who works at the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center in Canton and charged him with possessing and transferring child pornography.

Eric S. Bean, 32, of 1569 Mendon Road, Apt. 3, Cumberland, RI, was arrested by members of the Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force on Friday.

According to RI State Police:

“Mr. Bean was arrested as a result of information received from the Investigative Services Division of the Nebraska State Patrol indicating that an individual was transferring images of child pornography using an email account. Members of the ICAC Task Force investigated the complaint and traced the reported activity to 1569 Mendon Road, Apartment 3, Cumberland, Rhode Island. This morning members of the ICAC Task Force executed a court-authorized search warrant at that address where child pornography was located and digital media was seized for further analysis.”

Bean is a desktop support technician within the Information Technology Department at the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center in Canton. Rhode Island police said there “is no evidence” that Bean had “inappropriate contact with children.”

“A person found guilty of Possession of Child Pornography may be subject to a fine of not more than $5,000, or imprisoned not more than five years, or both. A person found guilty of Transfer of Child Pornography may be subject to a fine of not more than $5,000, or imprisoned for not more than 15 years, or both,” according to Rhode Island State Police.
