Company That Left Undetonated Fireworks in Stoughton Has License Suspended by State
Pyrotecnico allegedly left unexploded fireworks shells in Stoughton and three other Massachusetts communities.

The state Fire Marshal's Office has suspended the license of the fireworks company that left in Stoughton after the town's annual Independence Day on July 3.
Pennsylvania-based Pyrotecnico staged displays in 13 Massachusetts cities and towns this July 4th season, leaving behind undetonated fireworks in four of these communities, including Stoughton, The Boston Globe reports.
Over the last two days, two undetonated fireworks have been found in the outfield of the Stoughton High baseball field. Also known as the Anthony Novello field, this is where Stoughton's fireworks are launched.

On Tuesday, July 10, an when a landscaper went over it with a lawnmower when cutting the grass in left center field. Luckily there were no injuries in Tuesday's incident.
during a precautionary sweep of the field Wednesday, July 11 by Stoughton officials. This firework was detonated by the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad.

A city worker mowing a lawn in Waltham ran over an unexploded shell on July 9, causing it to explode, according to the Globe. Three days prior, on July 6, the same thing happened in Ware. As was the case in Stoughton, the lawnmower protected these workers from injury. An unexploded firework was also found in Worcester, the Globe reports.
Pyrotecnico also provided fireworks for shows in Newton, Milford, Hingham, Winchester, Westford, Wilmington, Ayer, Marion and neighboring Sharon. Sharon's display was held the same night as Stoughton's.
As part of the suspension, the Fire Marshal's Office also ordered the company to return to all 13 communities and search for any additional shells, according to the Globe.
As of Wednesday afternoon there has not been official confirmation that the company returned to Stoughton.
These undetonated fireworks pose a high risk.
"That piece of pyrotechnic could have blown your hand off and potentially killed you," Mike Noble of the State Police Bomb Squad said. "Any type of impact could have created static electricity."
Stoughton Fire Chief Mark Dolloff cautions that if anyone finds any unusual objects in the future, to be sure not to touch or move the object, to leave it in place, and call 9-1-1 immediately.
